The Black Watch Tartan dates back to 1725, when King George II authorized the formation of six “watch” companies to patrol the Highlands of Scotland. These independent watch companies wore a standardized tartan of dark blue, black and green plaid chosen to avoid association with any particular clan. Because of the extreme popularity of the Black Watch Tartan, it is regarded as a universal tartan. Our silk Black Watch Tartan fabric was custom-woven for us in the United Kingdom.
Each tie is 58-inches long and 3-inches wide. Handmade in New York City, with distinctive finishes like a grosgrain neckband, self-loop and self-tipped.
